On the evening of September 24, 2023, the "Blossoming Prosperity, New Beginnings at Ling College" anniversary celebration and Mid-Autumn reunion for Ling College at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was held grandly.

Attendees included Professor Wang Cong, Associate Vice President and Master of Shaw College; Ms. Wu Yuexia, Advisor to the President; Mr. Huang Haiqiang, Principal of Shenzhen Baibai Education Group; Professor LU Zongli, Master of Ling College; resident tutors, faculty members from various committees, and academic advisors.

Address by Professor LU Zongli, Master of Ling College

Professor LU Zongli delivered a speech highlighting Ling College's achievements over the past year, from establishing a comprehensive organizational structure and regulations and upgrading physical public spaces to hosting cultural and academic activities. Professor LU noted that Ling College, like a small tree, has grown robustly and flourished with vibrant branches and leaves. He expressed hope that Ling College would continue to refine its whole-person development plan, enabling students to embody the motto "To cultivate the self, and benefit others." and realize the vision of "To cultivate students to be recognized by leadership and virtue in the world."

Address by Mr. Huang Haiqiang, representative of the donor and Principal of Shenzhen Baiwai Education Group

Mr. Huang Haiqiang, representing the donors, remarked that the collaboration between Shenzhen Baiwai Education Group and CUHK-Shenzhen originated from Professor Ling Daoyang, one of the university's founders. His philosophy of "It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to nurture a person" aligns with the shared educational ideals and commitment to nurturing talent. He expressed his hope for Baiwai Education Group and Ling College to work together to create a better and warmer school, cultivating well-rounded talents.

Amidst warm applause, Professor Wang Cong and Professor LU Zongli, along with Mr. Huang Haiqiang, took the stage for the champagne tower ceremony to celebrate Ling College's anniversary.

To celebrate the anniversary and the Mid-Autumn Festival, students from Ling College presented carefully prepared performances, including recitations, songs, dances, martial arts, and instrumental music. Students from Shenzhen Baiwai Education Group also contributed with outstanding performances.

Reflecting on the past, Ling College was officially established in September 2022. Since then, it has adhered to Professor Ling Daoyang’s spirit of "with a heart of universal love to bridge the east and west, embrace the world," committed to the whole-person development of students. In 2022, Ling College made significant strides, laying down the system, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting whole person education.

In terms of organizational structure, Ling College strengthened connections among professors, harnessing collective wisdom to further refine institutional frameworks, and establishing a solid foundation for nurturing people. The establishment of the Resident Student Association of Ling College, floor committees, and 17 student organizations contributed to a comprehensive whole-person development system.

Regarding infrastructure, Ling College's physical environment has been progressively upgraded, with outdoor public learning areas, leisure platforms, and over ten functional rooms now in use, greatly enriching the learning, working, and daily leisure of faculty and students.

In terms of activities, Ling College hosted over 20 events in the past year, covering approximately 6,000 participants. These included new student orientation activities, art and cultural events, and leadership training programs, which significantly enriched the extracurricular lives of students and faculty.

Looking ahead, Ling College will further enhance its whole-person development system, focusing on five key areas: "The Poem of Life and Time", "Seeking the Origins of China," "Aesthetic Stroll", "Service Learning" and "Building a Sturdy Physique" enabling students to expand their knowledge, broaden their horizons, cultivate their character, and develop a well-rounded personality.
