Ling College and United College
United College was founded in 1956 and has upheld its motto of "Make One's Virtues Shine and Renew the People" since its inception. It is dedicated to enhancing students' moral character through whole-person education and communal living, serving Hong Kong society, China, and humanity as a whole.
Ling College was established in 2022 and is named after Professor Ling Daoyang, one of the founders of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a pioneer in modern forestry science in China, who also served as the second head of United College. Ling College inherits Professor Ling's lifelong commitment to nurturing trees, cultivating individuals, educating talents, and promoting learning, embodying the spirit of "To Cultivate the Self, and Benefit Others" as its motto, with the vision of "To cultivate students to be recognized by leadership and virtue in the world."
For this ceremony, United College produced a historical video symbolizing the shared legacy of the two colleges, reflecting the historical connections between The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the two regions of Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
In its two years of establishment, Ling College has engaged in numerous friendly exchanges and visits with United College, such as Professor Ling Daoyang’s 135th Birth Anniversary Commemorative Event, the "Trees Nurturing People" tree-planting commemorative event, the Greater Bay Area Green Public Welfare Study Camp, and sports competitions. Through these activities, faculty and students from both colleges have built strong friendships and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Future Cooperation
By establishing a sister-college relationship, both institutions will engage in in-depth cooperation in the field of education, jointly developing teaching and research projects to provide more learning and development opportunities for faculty and students. This will not only enhance mutual understanding and friendship between faculty and students from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, deepening cultural exchange and communication, but also offer a broad development platform for students, improving their cross-cultural communication skills. Future collaborations will also cultivate talents with a global perspective and innovative capabilities, exploring new models of education within the college system and injecting new momentum into the development of future educational endeavors.
