Building a Sturdy Physique | Ling College x Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Basketball Friendship Match

April 16, 2025 Building a Sturdy Physique

On February 26, 2025, the basketball team of Ling College embarked on their journey with great anticipation, boarding the coach to Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School.

This was a special visit - a meaningful exchange awaited them, culminating in a spirited friendly match against PKU's varsity players.

Upon arriving at the PKU Graduate School campus, we were warmly welcomed by Xu Han, a doctoral candidate from Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, who personally guided us through this journey of discovery and exchange.

Our first stop brought us to the renowned Peking University HSBC Business School - often hailed as the "West Point of Chinese Business."

The sleek, modern building stood adorned with vibrant stained-glass windows emblazoned with "MBA" and "MANAGEMENT" - striking accents that lent the architecture a kaleidoscopic brilliance. But what truly captivated us was the memorial wall, its lengthy brick surface engraved with names of distinguished alumni through the years.

Our team members stopped in silent awe, snapping photographs as if engaging in some transcendent dialogue across time with these exemplary predecessors. The weight of academic legacy hung palpably in the air.

After appreciating the HSBC Business School's distinctive charm, we followed our senior Xu Han's lead into the University Town Library. The spacious interior radiated a serene brightness, with every conceivable facility at hand. Row upon row of books stood in meticulous order, while students from all three institutions sat absorbed at study tables, devoting singular focus to their academic pursuits.

Stepping out from the library's third floor, we emerged onto an expansive sky terrace - the perfect retreat for weary scholars to gaze into the distance and unwind. Below us, the Dasha River flowed serenely; above, the academic towers of PKU, Tsinghua, and HITSZ stood shoulder-to-shoulder, their institutional emblems proudly displayed, composing a magnificent panorama. This unique vista became an instant must-capture moment, with everyone eagerly documenting the unforgettable scene through their lenses.

As dusk fell, the team members changed into matching jerseys and donned protective gear, marching onto the court with infectious energy for warm-up drills. Under the captain's methodical direction, they ran shooting circuits, practiced jump shots, and stretched thoroughly— every muscle primed for the impending showdown.  Moments before tip-off, the coach gathered the team in a tight circle, diagramming last-minute strategies. More than just physically prepared –  their morale burned bright.

A thunderous chant erupted: “THREE! TWO! ONE! LING!"fists thrust skyward, knuckles whitening with determination, igniting the arena with electric energy.

This moving scene vividly demonstrated the profound camaraderie, sportsmanship, and teamwork that bonded the players together. They stood as a truly cohesive unit, radiating strong collective spirit.

As both teams assembled, cameras flashed to capture this precious moment - the group photo immortalizing not just smiling faces, but the very essence of sports brotherhood.

That exhilarating friendly match against PKU Shenzhen's graduate team in the evening allowed us to experience not only the institution's rigorous academic atmosphere but also its students' profound passion for sports.

We sincerely hope more opportunities will arise for us to revisit PKU, delving deeper into this prestigious institution's mysteries and charms.

Thus concludes our memorable journey—a perfect blend of campus exploration and basketball camaraderie.
