Welcome to Ling College
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen adopts a collegiate system where each student is affiliated with a specific college. The purpose of establishing these colleges is to transcend the boundaries of academics and disciplines, bringing together students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to foster interaction, cooperation, and mutual growth.
Founded in 2022, Ling College is the fifth college of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Through various college activities and social practice, you can experience the college culture of inheriting the cultural lineage of China and strolling through the aesthetic corridor. You can also exchange ideas and learn from teachers and students from all over the country and even the world, growing in a diverse environment. As you stroll along the tree-lined paths of the college, you will feel the “Dao” spirit of Professor Ling Daoyang, one of the founders of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, a leading figure in Chinese forestry, as well as an advocate of China's Tree Planting Day, from the beautiful scenery of “wild flowers blooming with a subtle fragrance, and fine trees flourishing in the shade”.
Professor Ling Daoyang was a pioneer of modern forestry science in China and an advocate for China’s Tree Planting Day. He devoted his life to planting trees, cultivating people, nurturing talent, and promoting education. The Chinese name “Daoyang (道扬)” of Ling College is derived from Professor Ling Daoyang. His descendant, Mr. Ling Guoqiang, followed in the footsteps of his ancestor Ling Daoyang, generously donated to the university, to carry on and promote the tradition of the college system of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Under the leadership of Master LU Zongli, Ling College students will adhere to the college motto of “To Cultivate the Self, and Benefit Others”, inherit and carry forward Mr. Ling Daoyang’s philosophy of “Dao”, with a heart of universal love to bridge the east and west, embrace the world, and show the graceful bearing of Ling people.
